Police Officer Accused Of Raping Colleague

A police officer stationed at Fairbridge has appeared in court for allegedly choking his colleague and raping her in a toilet.

The accused, whose identity has been withheld to protect the victim, appeared before Bulawayo Regional Magistrate Mark Dzira facing a charge of rape.

He appeared for remand and was remanded in custody to 16 September.

The court heard that the complainant had been drinking with friends when she left to use the toilet.

It is alleged that while she was relieving herself, the accused stormed into the toilet, grabbed her, and ordered her to remove her clothes, demanding sex.

The court further heard that the accused touched the victim and persisted in his demands. He allegedly pushed her to the ground and raped her.

The matter was reported to the police, leading to the arrest of the accused.
