A domestic dispute in Makwika Village, Hwange, took a violent turn last week when 32-year-old Eunice Ngwenya allegedly stabbed her boyfriend, Mbekezeli Sibanda (32), in a shocking attack.

According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), the incident occurred around 12:50 PM on 18 August 2025, when Ngwenya, Sibanda, and Ngwenya’s sister were walking together.

The disagreement reportedly began over the victim’s inner garment, which the accused refused to return despite repeated requests.

Ngwenya allegedly went to her home at F18 Makwika Village, while the complainant waited outside on the verandah.

She accused, later returned with the garment in hand, but concealed inside it was a kitchen knife.

When Sibanda reached for his clothing, Ngwenya allegedly pulled out the knife and stabbed him twice — once on the right arm and once on the right side of his chest.

Sibanda, bleeding and in severe pain, attempted to seek help from a workmate but was unable to do so.

He eventually made it home, where a friend helped him report the incident to the police and obtain medical treatment. A medical report confirming the injuries will be presented in court.

Ngwenya was arrested on the same day and charged with attempted murder. She appeared before the Hwange Magistrates’ Court and was remanded in custody to 5 September 2025, pending the conclusion of investigations.
