The Zimbabwe National Road Administration (ZINARA) has announced promotions for motorists during the ongoing Zimbabwe Agricultural Show, which began on Monday.

As part of the initiative, motorists with outstanding arrears will receive a 50 per cent discount on penalty charges, while senior citizens will have their penalties fully waived, allowing them to regularise their vehicle licensing at no cost.

ZINARA has also introduced a special payment plan for deregistered vehicles, available exclusively at its licensing offices during the Show period, which runs until Saturday. This arrangement will enable motorists to enter structured repayment plans to bring their vehicles back into the licensing system.

To improve accessibility, the penalty discount promotion has been decentralised to ZINARA’s nationwide network of agents, reducing pressure on its stand at the Agricultural Show.

In a statement on Tuesday, ZINARA said the measures are intended to encourage compliance with licensing regulations and respond to concerns from motorists, many of whom have accumulated arrears due to financial challenges. ZINARA said:

“We heard the concerns of motorists who have been approaching us, raising concerns over their ballooning arrears and penalties.

“We want to give them a fair chance to comply and to contribute to the national road development agenda.

“Our objective is not to punish our motoring public but to help them comply with the law and also to respond to the realities faced by our stakeholders.”
