Wicknell Chivayo has gifted outspoken ZANU PF supporter Tawanda Timothy Marimbe, popularly known as DJ Towers, a brand-new 2025 Toyota Fortuner 4×4 and US$50,000 in cash.
The gesture, announced via Chivayo’s social media post on Wednesday morning, was framed as a reward for what he described as “unapologetic loyalty” to the ruling party.
Chivayo’s post, written in a mix of English and colloquial Shona, praised DJ Towers for his unwavering support of ZANU PF and President Emmerson Mnangagwa, often expressed through viral videos, chants of “ED Pfee,” and humorous antics online.
Despite being mocked and labelled a “lunatic” by critics, Chivayo said DJ Towers had “turned ridicule into relevance,” demonstrating a kind of patriotism that deserved recognition. Wrote Chivayo:
“At times riya rinonzi ne vanhu DZUNGU RINOBHADHARA…
“‘LOYALTY is more valuable than friendship and more POWERFUL than respect, because when everything else fades away, only LOYALTY remains standing.’
“In a world full of OPPORTUNISTS, loyalty has become a RARE and misunderstood concept. Some call it FOOLISHNESS, others call it obsession but the truth is, only the brave remain LOYAL even when it is said to be UNPOPULAR.”
According to the post, DJ Towers is to collect his fully paid Toyota Fortuner from Exquisite Car Dealership, along with US$50,000 in cash described as “pocket money”.
DJ Towers is a well-known figure on Zimbabwean social media, recognised for his vocal and often theatrical support for the ruling party.
He has frequently appeared in videos and posts celebrating ZANU-PF, with his catchphrase “ED Pfee” becoming a popular reference.
