The City of Harare has urged business owners and property managers in the Central Business District (CBD) to regularise their operations and ensure full compliance with municipal regulations.

The city’s ongoing “Operation CBD Order Restoration” aims to bring all businesses and buildings in the area up to standard.

According to the latest figures released by the City of Harare, as of 14 August 2025, a total of 463 businesses have been closed for failing to meet regulatory requirements.

In addition, 141 buildings have outstanding arrears, while 43 properties currently have their water supply disconnected due to non-compliance.

The city reported that 413 businesses were operating without valid licenses, and 65 buildings do not have approved building plans.

On a positive note, 501 buildings now have their building plans approved, and 783 properties hold valid fire certifications.

However, 50 buildings were found to have expired fire extinguishers, and 111 properties were operating without the necessary subdivision permits.
