The South African Police Service (SAPS) is offering a reward of up to R150,000 for information leading to the arrest of Jabulani Thabang Moyo.

Moyo, a Zimbabwean national, is wanted in connection with the murder of two police detectives, Warrant Officer Vuyisile Sintwa and Sergeant Simon Masenye.

The officers were killed while transporting him back to Boksburg Correctional Services following a court appearance.

He is reported to have stolen their firearms and fled in their unmarked police vehicle, which was later found abandoned.

National police spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe has warned that Moyo is armed with a state-issued firearm and should be considered extremely dangerous. She said:

“Do not approach him. He has no regard for life. Anyone with information must come forward and not attempt to confront this killer.”

Acting Police Minister Firoz Cachalia visited the families of the slain officers on Sunday, pledging full support during this difficult time. He said:

“I’m here, having visited a police station in Florida and having received a report from the provincial commissioner and the investigating team.

“I’ve just visited the two families to express my condolences. Yesterday, the national commissioner visited.

“Support for the family in making the funeral arrangements and for all the consequences that follow a murder of a police officer.”
