Bulawayo Senator Thokozani Khupe (CCC) has raised concerns over the alleged lack of transparency and fairness in the student selection process at Mpilo School of Nursing.

Speaking during debate in the National Assembly last week, Khupe said many qualified prospective students were being overlooked and not called for interviews despite having strong academic credentials. Said Khupe:

This raises serious concerns about the selection. As a public institution, Mpilo School of Nursing should prioritise students from Bulawayo and surrounding areas.

We need clarity on the selection process and whether regional balance was considered. Students who feel unfairly excluded from this opportunity deserve answers.

Speaker of the National Assembly Jacob Mudenda said the Minister of Health and Child Care would be asked to deliver a ministerial statement on the issue.

Khupe added that, given the controversy surrounding the selection process, both prospective students and community members are anxiously awaiting clarity.
