Two young girls, aged two and four, died in a fire incident that occurred at a plot in Clipsham, Masvingo, on 17 July 2025.
According to a statement released by the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), the two infants were sleeping in a room that suddenly caught fire. By the time help arrived, it was too late to save them.
The charred remains of the children were taken to Masvingo General Hospital, where a post-mortem will be conducted.
Police said that the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
There have been several tragic cases involving young children killed in fire incidents in Zimbabwe in recent months.
A 1-year-5-month-old baby girl died in a fire incident in Nkayi in April 2025.
The baby had been left sleeping alone while her mother accompanied a sibling to school. The house caught fire and the child died.
