EcoCash Holdings Zimbabwe Limited is poised to officially change its corporate identity to TN CyberTech Investments Holdings Limited.

This follows the approval of a special resolution by shareholders during an extraordinary general meeting (EGM) conducted last Friday.

The name change is contingent upon the completion of specified regulatory steps. Part of the rresolution reads:

Proposed change of name that: the name of the Company be changed from ‘EcoCash Holdings Zimbabwe Limited’ to ‘TN CyberTech Investments Holdings Limited’ and that the name ‘TN CyberTech Investments Holdings Limited’ be substituted for ‘EcoCash Holdings Zimbabwe Limited’ in the Company’s

Certificate of Incorporation, Memorandum and Articles of Association and all the formation documents relating to the Company, with the name change to take effect on the date of the issue of the change of name certificate by the Registrar of Companies.

The resolution also authorised the directors to take all necessary steps to implement the change. It reads:

The Directors and any of them be and are hereby authorised to complete and do all such acts and things (including executing such documents as may be required) as they may consider necessary, desirable or expedient to give effect to this resolution as they or he may deem fit.

The company has indicated that the new name will become effective upon the issuance of the certificate of name change by the Registrar of Companies.

The implementation timeline includes the lodging of the special resolution with the Companies Office on Monday, followed by a public announcement of the name change on July 15, 2025.

Trading under the new name, TN CyberTech Investments Holdings Limited, on the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange is scheduled to commence on July 23, 2025.

It is important to note that EcoCash, the country’s largest mobile money platform, is not changing its name.

In 2018, Econet Wireless separated its fintech businesses, including EcoCash, VAYA Technologies, Econet Insurance, Econet Life, MARS Zimbabwe, and Maisha Health Fund, into a new company called EcoCash Holdings.

This created two separate companies: Econet Wireless and EcoCash Holdings.

But in April 2024, Econet reversed this move by bringing most of those businesses, including the EcoCash mobile money platform, back under Econet Wireless. The only business left in EcoCash Holdings was Steward Bank.

Earlier this year (2025), TN Holdings, owned by Tawanda Nyambirai, bought a controlling stake in EcoCash Holdings, effectively gaining control of Steward Bank.

The new name, TN CyberTech Investments Holdings Limited, reflects the identity of the new main shareholder and the company’s future direction.

The name change is necessary because EcoCash Holdings no longer owns the EcoCash mobile money platform.
