ZIMBABWE EVENING WEATHER REPORT AND FORECAST ISSUED AT 1600 HRS ON TUESDAY 18 MAY 2021 VALID UNTIL THURSDAY 20 MAY 2021.
The high-pressure cell over the southeast coast of South Africa is driving a relatively moist east to south-easterly flow into the country causing cloudy conditions over Masvingo Province, Matabeleland South, south of the Midlands Province and Manicaland Province. However, this high-pressure cell is slowly moving eastwards into the Indian Ocean.
FORECAST FOR TOMORROW WEDNESDAY 19 MAY 2021:
Brief cloudy conditions are expected over Masvingo, Mashonaland East and Manicaland Provinces. Cold in the morning becoming mild later. Elsewhere (Matabeleland North, Matabeleland South, Bulawayo Metropolitan, northern districts of the Midlands, Harare Metropolitan and all Mashonaland Central, Mashonaland West Provinces), should be mostly sunny and warm though cold in the morning. Slight ground frost is expected over susceptible areas especially Marondera, Chivhu and Henderson.
IMPACTS
• Slight ground frost may affect horticultural crops such as tomatoes.
• Temperature fluctuations between night and day may affect the health of all persons, however, persons of an ill disposition, the elderly, young children tend to be more vulnerable.
• Respiratory-related ailments such as asthma. hay-fever. colds and flu tend to be common during this period due to cold mornings and evening.
• Cold weather conditions negatively impact poultry.
ACTIONS TO TAKE
• keeping warm is essential for everyone. especially vulnerable members of society.
• The use of braziers or open fires to keep warm should be done milder adult supervision, and in a well-ventilated space to avoid carbon monoxide poisoning/suffocation.
• For expert advice on preventative and redemptive measures for respiratory-related ailments, please consult your local health practitioner.
• Poultry producers should note that broilers are sensitive to temperature variations and therefore need to be checked regularly and adjustment made.

Sunny conditions should prevail across the country. It will be cold in the morning, becoming warm by afternoon.
There is a risk of slight ground frost occurring in places such as Matopos, Marondera, Henderson, Chivhu as well as Gweru.
