Mnangagwa To Get First Sinovac Jab In Victoria Falls

President Emmerson Mnangagwa will officially launch the Second Phase of the COVID-19 Vaccination Programme this week, Wednesday, 24th March 2021, in Victoria Falls.

In a statement late on Sunday, Acting President Constantino Chiwenga said President Mnangagwa will receive his first jab of the Chinese-developed Sinovac coronavirus vaccine.

Mnangagwa will be accompanied by members of the Political Actors Dialogue (POLAD) who will also receive their first jabs on the same occasion on the same day. Said Chiwenga:

At that high profile event, Government will also commence an embracing Covid-19 vaccination roll-out campaign which will afford all residents of the City an opportunity to get vaccinated.

This vaccination exercise will pave way for the resumption of unlimited tourism activities in the City which is a world attraction.

Already, Government has announced a vaccination programme for teachers and other personnel in the educational sector in the wake of the resumption of normal teaching programmes in schools and colleges.

Overall, Government targets the vaccination of 60 per cent of the population in order to achieve herd immunity.
