Bogus Clearing Agent Dupes Energy Mutodi

A bogus clearing agent reportedly stole $1400 from former Information Ministry deputy Minister Energy Mutodi on Thursday evening at Beitbridge Border Post, The Herald reports.

Mutodi according to an official of the Feret Team situated at the border reportedly hired the bogus clearing agents on the South African side of the border as he wanted them to help him swiftly process the clearing of South Africa registered hummer he was driving.

Said the Feret Team official who spoke to the publication:

The suspect managed to process the clearance formalities on the South African border and upon reaching Zimbabwe he demanded US$300 to process a Temporary Import Permit (TIP) for the foreign registered Hummer, which he failed to do after hitting a brick wall at Zimra.

The complainant then demanded back his money which he got back. He later discovered that the suspect had stolen US$1400 from his car when the man had left the border.
