City Press Editor at Large Mondli Makhanya in an opinion piece published by his paper yesterday called the recently deceased King Goodwil Zwelithini an apatheid useless idiot.
In the lengthy opinion piece Makanya noted how he arrived at the decision to call the late King a useless idiot:
- King Zwelithini was “apartheid’s useful idiot” in the hands of the apartheid government.
- He alleged that on the eve of South Africa becoming a democracy, King Zwelithini made an agreement with the National Party to reduce poor people to second class citizens.
- He alleged that King Zwelithini never challenged the apartheid injustices at all.
- He alleged that all King Zwelithini cared about was having power and control over KZN.
Even though some people agreed with Makhanya, they said it was disrespectful and wrong to say that about him since he is no longer available to defend himself. King Zwelithini in 2015 said foreigners should go back home sentiments that sparked a debate and in some instances Xenophobia.
