US D.C. National Guard Spokesperson Tinashe Machona Says 1100 Troops Were Deployed To Manage Protestors

A US-based Zimbabwean, Captain Tinashe T Machona is among the men who yesterday and today are trying to restrain pro-Donald Trump supporters who yesterday breached the barricades of Capitol Hill and went inside the building while lawmakers were certifying electoral college votes.

Captain Machona is the Washington DC National Guard Spokesperson and he spoke to the New York Times and updated them about the National Guard’s response to the protests. He said 1100 troops were deployed from the National Guard and 650 from Virginia were deploy in Washington as well:

The entire D.C. National Guard has been mobilized and is prepared to support law enforcement officers in various locations in the city to protect property, allowing federal and local law enforcement officers to do law-enforcement missions,

According to Tinashe Machona, the D.C. Army and Air National Guard have a combined 2,700 troops.
