Trevor Ncube, the chairman of the Alpha Media Holdings has posted on social media some Biblical verses which indicate the kind of fasting which God wants.
The member of the Presidential Advisory Council (PAC) which advises President Emmerson Mnangagwa speaks when the president has declared 15 June a National Day of Prayer and Fasting to seek the divine intervention of issues bedevilling the country.
Zimbabwe is grappling with COVID-19 and even the outbreak of the virus, the country’s economy was on a downward trend that has seen living standards of the citizenry deteriorating.
There is also a political crisis in the country characterised by an impasse between the ruling ZANU PF and opposition MDC as well as between the citizenry and authorities mainly due to the state of affairs and rampant corruption.
Posting on Twitter, Ncube said:

“No, this is the kind of fasting I want: Free those who are wrongly imprisoned; lighten the burden of those who work for you. Let the oppressed go free, and remove the chains that bind people.” Isaiah 58:6 NLT
“Then when you call, the LORD will answer. ‘Yes, I am here,’ he will quickly reply. “Remove the heavy yoke of oppression. Stop pointing your finger and spreading vicious rumors!” Isaiah 58:9 NLT
Another PAC member who has openly and vehemently criticised President Mnangagwa’s administration, particularly over human rights violations, Pastor Shingi Munyeza said a prayer without repentance is an abomination.
He also cited the verses that were cited by Ncube above.

TRUE fasting [a categorical personal relationship with God the Almighty] is done solely on God’s declaration and administered categorically [read the Holy Bible well] through His servants the prophets, bishops, pastors and ministerial anointed ones and far from it is hardly a cut and paste exercise or a political category or else it will attract God’s wrath done unsanctioned and inappropriately, Just watch it.
