Police Investigating Death Of Mutare Lecturer

The Zimbabwe Republic Police is investigating the death of Amon Mukonya a lecturer at Mutare Polytechnic who died in his room.

Manicaland provincial police spokesperson Inspector Tavhiringwa Kakohwa said Mukonya’s body was recovered on Saturday in an advanced state of decomposition. He added:

On Saturday, May 23, a human resources officer at Mutare Polytechnic passed by Amon Mukonya’s residence and saw some  flies through the window.

The human resources officer was also alerted by the pungent smell that was coming from the room before they proceeded to unlock the door in the presence of some people at the campus.

The matter was reported to the police and Mukonya’s body was taken to Mutare Provincial Hospital for post-mortem.

This comes when the country is grappling with the deadly novel coronavirus that has 4 known deaths in the country.
