Govt Establishes A 4 Bed COVID-19 Isolation Center In Mutare After Failing To Revamp Mutare Infectious Diseases Hospital

The Government has turned Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital’s voluntary male circumcision unit into a COVID-19 isolation center for Mutare, The Herald reports.

The development was confirmed by Medical superintendent Dr Masanga Mutede who said they will follow strict handling procedures should a positive case be brought to the hospital.

We have put in place strict measures at our hospital to ensure that everyone is safe.

We have closed off all other entrances and left one where everyone who comes through is being screened.

If we find that they have symptoms of the disease, we have turned our VMMC unit into an isolation centre where we take them for testing and treatment.

This comes amidst confirmation by the Mutare mayor that the council needs $400 000 to refurbish Mutare Infectious Diseases Hospital that had been previously identified as the Mutare Isolation centre.
