The Parliament of Zimbabwe has been adjourned to the 5th of May 2020 following a ban on public gatherings of more than 100 people for 60 days amid a global outbreak of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

In a statement on Friday, Clerk of Parliament Kennedy Chokuda said:

The Clerk of Parliament would like to advise the public that in line with the COVID 19 mitigation strategies adopted by Cabinet, Parliament has suspended most public activities until further notice.

In this regard, Parliament has adjourned to 5th May 2020 and all Public Hearings on the Constitution of Zimbabwe Amendment No. 2 Bill [H.B. 23, 2019], which were scheduled to start on Sunday 29th March to Saturday 4th April 2020, have been cancelled. Members of the public will be advised of the new dates in due course.
