PICTURES: “Thousands” Of People Gathered At ZANU PF Rally In Nyanga Today

Thousands of people are reportedly gathered in Nyanga, Manicaland Province where President Emmerson Mnangagwa is expected to address them.

Earlier, the president commissioned Nyakomba Irrigation Scheme which he said is meant to enhance agricultural productivity, “especially during drought spells.”

The gatherings come when the government yesterday announced a ban on all public gatherings with effect from the 20th of this month at the backdrop of the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.

Although the president has not violated the ban, some are concerned that he might be putting the lives of people in danger. Professor Jonathan Moyo, an exiled former Cabinet Minister commented on the pictures and said:

Here’s evidence that Mnangagwa is unpresidential, callous & thoughtless. Yesterday he declared #coronavirus a national disaster & postponed or cancelled public gatherings, etc. Less than 24 hours later, he’s shamelessly addressing a political rally. Zimbabwe needs a sane leader!
