The South African government has taken the following precautionary measures to try and curtail the spread of COVID-19 which according to Ramaphosa stands at 61 positive cases in his country so far.
- Schools will be closed on Wednesday till after Easter
- VISAs from all high-risk countries have been suspended.
- Travellers from high-risk countries like The UK, the US, China, Iran, Italy, German, Spain are banned for 30 days
- All public gatherings of more than 100 people are prohibited
- 35 land ports have been closed.
- Prison visits have been suspended
- South Africans advised to avoid travelling to China, Iran, USA, Italy, Spain and other high-risk countries
- All Travellers who have travelled to high-risk countries since February must present themselves for testing
- Any foreign nationals who have visited high-risk countries in the past 21 days will be denied VISAs
- All non-essential travel for Government officials are banned
- Isolation and quarantine sites are being set up in all districts and Metros
