“We’ll Continue To Seek Meaningful Re-engagement With The United States” – Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe’s Foreign Affairs Ministers, Hon Sibusiso Moyo has said that the government will continue re-engaging the United States despite the extension of sanctions on Zimbabwe for another year.

Moyo’s remarks come shortly after the USA like the United Kingdom has extended sanctions on Zimbabwe. He said:

Notwithstanding the unfortunate stance, we will continue to seek meaningful re-engagement with the United States authorities on a mutual respect basis and we will, of course, continue to pursue the reform agenda we have set ourselves at a pace which is responsible, manageable and sustainable.
Since coming to power in 2017, President Emmerson Mnangagwa has been pursuing a re-engagement agenda in a bid to normalise relations between Zimbabwe and the international community.
Zimbabwe has been isolated for more than a decade now causing the economy of the country to collapse as markets for commodities and lines of credit have dwindled.
