Minister Tells Schools To Build Factories To Manufacture Own Uniforms

The Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Cain Mathema, said schools should build factories on their premises to manufacture their own uniforms.

Mathema said this while responding to reports that schools across the country have hiked fees and the price of uniforms have shot through the roof. He said:

We … encourage schools to make use of the land and build factories whereby they will be able to manufacture their own uniforms.

We want each school to be able to produce its own school uniforms so that parents won’t be charged exorbitant prices by retailers.

Mathema said school heads have already been issued with a directive to advise the government about how much land they have.
