Zimbabwe Air Space Safety Questioned

A series of reports and events surrounding the Zimbabwean Air Space have left some people questioning the safety of the country’s airspace. Newsday reports that the following reports and incidents occurred in the past few days:

  1. According to the publication, a frequency controller at the Air Traffic Control broke and caused flight delays yesterday.
  2. Last week a leaked letter to the transport Minister JB Matiza from the ATCAZ highlighted “continued deterioration in air navigation communication performance”
  3. Traffic Controllers at RGM Airport reportedly downed tools on Monday citing incapacitation.
  4. A tweet from Fastjet apologising to customers for delays caused by air traffic controls

CAAZ has issued a statement that all is back to normal. Last week exiled politician Jonathan Moyo tweeted about  Air Traffic problems and CAAZ was quick to dismiss his claims as fake.
