ZIMSEC, O' & A' Level Exam Markers Strike Deal

The Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (ZIMSEC) and teachers met on Monday and managed to break the impasse over the remuneration of examiners for both “O” and “A” Level public examinations.

Progressive Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (PTUZ) secretary-general Raymond Majongwe confirmed the development. He said:

Examiners in both residential and non-residential marking will claim a dinner amount of $57 as stated on the contract as well as the supplementary allowance of $20 per day.

There will be a concerted effort by Zimsec to ensure that non-residential markers will get transport to and from marking venues.

Teachers had threatened to boycott the marking of public examinations if their script rates were not adjusted.
