“Public Workers Demo Imminent” – REPORT

Government workers have vowed to embark on industrial action next week over unsustainable salaries and pensions.

Reuters reports that the Apex Council announced on Thursday that announced incapacitation of workers.

Public sector workers in Zimbabwe are demanding to be paid U.S. dollar-indexed salaries and have said the worst economic crisis in a decade has left them unable to go to work.

They argue that the soaring inflation has eroded their salaries thereby incapacitating them to fulfil their contractual obligations.

This comes when the health caregivers’ industrial action has this Thursday reached 60 days, a situation that has worsened the situation in public health institutions.
