Harare Receives Devolution Funds, Lobbies Govt To "Allocate More Resources"
Harare Mayor, His Worship Cllr Herbert Gomba has revealed that the City Council has received $17,9 million from the Devolution Fund.
The Mayor added that the money shall be used to rehabilitate infrastructure for Small to Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and water filters at Morton Jaffray water treatment plant. He said:
The government disbursed $15 million from the Devolution Fund for improvement of infrastructure for Small, Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and we have a moral duty to create conditions for the realisation of the economic aspirations of everybody, as a starting point.
FeedbackHe said that the rest shall be used to address the water crisis which has become a recurring issue due to the ever-increasing population, the deteriorating water services infrastructure and shrinking of water levels in the city’s water sources.
Gomba also indicated plans to continuously lobby the central government to allocate more resources under the inter-governmental fiscal transfers as provided for by the national Constitution.
