SADC is hopeful that eventually the EU and the US will lift sanctions on Zimbabwe Sunday Mail reports. It has emerged that SADC is prepared to constantly engage countries and institutions over sanctions imposed against Zimbabwe.
SADC’s executive secretary Dr Tax, in an email correspondence with The Sunday Mail, said:
We do expect that our appeal will be heard by the countries and (multilateral) organisations which have imposed sanctions with a view to completely remove them
This requires a constant and systematic engagement over time and at various levels. Through relevant structures, Sadc has engaged countries at bilateral and multilateral level, providing information on the impact of sanctions and advocating for their complete removal.
SADC has joined Zimbabwe in calling for the removal of sanctions as they claim they are affecting the region. 25 October, this coming Saturday has been set aside as the Anti Sanctions day by SADC leaders.

South Africa is one step from getting its own set of sanctions if it continues to support these criminals
