The price of bread has been hiked to RTGS$15.75 from $9.50. Though the new bread price is slightly above US$1.00 at the interbank market rate, in real terms it is staggering considering that less than a year ago a loaf of bread was priced at less than RTGS$0.90. Moreover, the rise in the salaries of the majority of workers does not come close to matching the price increases.
