The Zimbabwe Gender Commission (ZGC) has denied that its officials recommended a dress code policy, as reported by online publication CITE yesterday.
The denial follows criticism from Zimbabweans on social media that the thinking behind such a policy is retrogressive.
The ZGC said on Twitter on Wednesday afternoon:
Zimbabwe Gender Commission has not recommended a dress code policy in tertiary institutions! As a Commission, we stand for the freedom of choice regarding one’s dress. We condemn the excuse that sexual harassment or any form of violence against women is because of dressing.
It is not clear if this means the ZGC official was misquoted or if they were making recommendations not approved by the ZGC.

Thought it was a good development but hey the guyz are back tracking. Evil has power over good for sure. What’s wrong in telling people to cover their essentials?
