The Drama That Occurred In Parly Yesterday
There was drama in the parliament yesterday as parliamentarians sat to deliberate on national issues.
1. Thabitha Khumalo and Amos Chibaya walked in to a cheering crowd.
MDC party bigwigs who have been in police custody over recent protests Tabitha Khumalo and Amos Chibaya walked in and their peers cheered. Tabitha was arrested a few days ago and a few days later Amos Chibaya was arrested for not stopping the demos.
2. Minister Mathema stormed out after one parliamentarian started asking questions about abductions.
When parly was now in session, one MDC member, Mbizo MP Settlement Chikwinya, took to the podium to ask The Home Affairs Minister about the recent abductions. Chikwinya said:
I would like to raise a point of privilege and say that every time we pray in this House we pray in order to make laws for the good governance and maintenance of peace in this country. It is disheartening that ever since August 14 we have seen 26 opposition MPs being abducted at night….
…As MPs, while we are doing our work, we must seek to be protected, but recently Marondera Central MP Caston Matewu had his house sprayed with 21 bullets around 1:00 am. While we are doing our work as MPs we expect protection from law enforcement agents….

…The laws are being wantonly ignored by members of the Executive, assisted by members of the Judiciary. I call upon the Home Affairs minister to come and give a ministerial statement in the House on the issue.
However, Chikwinya finished his submissions long after the person he was addressing, Minister Cain Mathema had already stormed out of parly.
