Legendary Musician, Thomas Mukanya Mapfumo, has said that President Emmerson Mnangagwa must shun corruption s as the others holding lower positions in government to follow suit. Mukanya claimed that “Mnangagwa ndiye mbavha hombe (Mnangagwa is the biggest thief.)”. He also said that the economy was being crippled by known corrupt people who were externalising funds. Mapfumo’s remarks come when president Mnangagwa has claimed that he is serious about fighting corruption.
He noted that corruption was scaring away investors.
Analysts including Political Science Lecturer at the Univerity of Zimbabwe, Eldred Masunungure observe that Mnangagwa’s anti-corruption rhetoric lack real action to back it.
