Abduction Alert: Tatenda Mombeyarara
Tatenda Mombeyarara, a coordinator for Citizens’ Manifesto was abducted from his house this evening by unknown men who placed a bag over his head, bundled him into a car and brutally assaulted him before leaving him for dead at a quarry near Hatfield. He was severely beaten using a metal object and the butt of a gun and had a caustic liquid poured on his body. He is in severe pain and currently admitted in hospital. During the beatings the men accused him of being involved in the organizing of the August 16 protests and threatened to “deal with you all”. This is a new low in attacks against civic activists that must be firmly condemned.
Commentators have described the incident as a violation of human rights whilst some argued that the abduction was staged to effect regime change.
