Statement on an unauthorised article

Reference is made to an article headed “Tax Alert – Introduction of the Zimbabwean Dollar as the sole legal tender” that is circulating on various social media platforms.

We wish to advise that the views, thoughts and opinions expressed in the article concerning S 142 of 2019 are not a reflection of the views and opinions of Grant Thornton Zimbabwe and its Partners. The circulation of this article and its contents was not authorised by the Partnership.

At Grant Thornton, we remain committed to growing the potential of our clients while adhering to local legislation, regional and international standards.

We, therefore, dissociate ourselves from this article and urge the public to refrain from circulating the article.

The persons responsible have been suspended, pending investigations.

  1. HOWEVER THE STATEMENT IS TRUE. THANK YOU GRANT THORNTON. IN FACT WE SAW THE SAME CONTROLS IN 2008. WHY DO SOME PEOPLE NEVER LEARN. THIS IS A DISASTER IN THE MAKING WHICH AFFECTS ITS MAKERS!!!

  2. I am not surprised at the suspension of whoever published the article. It was mainly a plagiarisation of an earlier article by Veritas. In addition, the moment I read it I was surprised at the low writing skills of the author. That did not look like an article from a “prestigious accounting firm” as claimed by the article’s author.
