ZANU PF To Punish Fraudsters And Extortionists - SK Moyo

The ruling ZANU PF party said that it will ruthlessly clamp down on party members who use President Emerson Mnangagwa’s name to commit crimes.

This follows the recent arrests of four ZANU PF activists who defrauded a mine owner of thousands of dollars.

Three of the culprits claimed to be members of the dreaded Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO).

In an interview with the Chronicle, ZANU PF national spokesperson, Simon Khaya Moyo said:

We want to commend the police for arresting the culprits. We condemn that kind of behaviour and we applaud the police for taking action.

We cannot allow criminals to abuse the First Family’s name. The law must always take its course.

This is why I have been speaking hard on corruption. When you go around soliciting for donations using the First family or the President as it were, that is corruption.

It puts the entire name of the party in disrepute. So these are very serious matters that must be dealt with severely.

We will wait until the law has taken its course. But after that, the party’s constitution is very clear and we shall go with what the constitution says.

Observers claim that it has been a recurrent theme over the years for ZANU PF-linked people to commit offences ranging from political violence and fraud with impunity.
