Reports suggest that ballot boxes were found on the streets of Tzaneen, Limpopo. South Africa is going to the polls tomorrow
This was revealed by the Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) chairperson Glen Mashinini on Monday. The chair added that the commission was investigating the matter. Mashinini, however, said that he was not yet sure if the boxes belonged to the IEC. He said:
If those boxes are in any way our boxes, it will be regrettable and the matter will be attended to accordingly with whoever the officer is, but at this stage our understanding is that it is not ballot papers, it is ballot boxes that were destined to a destination.
How they got on the ground, we are not yet sure, but we will be providing a report on that.
