Chamisa Won’t Be Meeting Mugabe Soon – MDC Spokesperson Clarifies

MDC spokesperson and councillor for Mt Pleasant, Jacob Mafume rejected media reports that party president Nelson Chamisa is set to meet former President Robert Mugabe in the next few days.

While speaking to a local radio station on Monday night, Mafume said that there is no scheduled meeting between Chamisa and Mugabe in the near future.

Mafume, however, left room for a meeting between the two in the future. He said that there is a lot to learn from Mugabe, things not to do, how not to destroy an economy, how not to abuse human rights and also how to manage a leadership succession.

Meanwhile, Mafume clarified on the status of the MDC Alliance. He said the Alliance was an electoral pact and the party remains the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC).
