Mnangagwa Arrives In Zimbabwe After Abandoning Foreign Trip
Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa arrived in Zimbabwe. He was received by Vice Presidents Kembo Mohadi and Constantino Chiwenga and other Government officials.
President Mnangagwa decided to abandon his trip and come back to Zimbabwe to deal with the Shutdown Zimbabwe crisis. The crisis rocked the country for a week, with 12 people reported to have died in a police and military campaign against civilians, especially in the high density surbubs of Harare and Bulawayo.
Effectively, Mnangagwa pulled out of attending the World Economic Forum in Davos. There were growing rumours that there are sharp divisions within Mnangagwa’s party Zanu-PF, with three key individuals mentioned; Mutsvangwa and Zimbabwe Vice President, Chiwenga and the president himself. There were also reports of an attempt to impeach Mnangagwa.
