Following the violent protests on 14 January 2019, retail shops in Bulawayo, Harare were looted, ransacked and some, burnt. The riot caused of the trail of Zimbabwe’s worst willful destruction of property in recent memory.
The police and military were deployed to quell the protests and their heavy-handed crackdown left more than 10 people dead from gunshot wounds and hundreds injured.
