Exiled Mandi Chimene Fails To Attend Daughter’s Funeral

Self-Exiled former Manicaland Provincial Affairs minister and G40 member, Mandi Chimene,  failed to attend her daughter’s Ellen Zimondi who passed at 35 in December, apparently for fear of retribution from President Mnangagwa. She’s believed to be in Mozambique where she went to exile during the coup in November 2017.

A source is quoted by NewZimbabwe:

“Chimene did not pitch up for her daughter`s funeral and burial. She probably feared for her life or persecution since she was a fierce critic of President Mnangagwa,”

Mandi Chimene’s daughter, Ellen Zimondi, died at 35 and was a buried in Westlea, Mutare.
