Khupe To Attend Tsvangirai Memorial Service After Getting Security Assurances

MDC-T president Thokozani Khupe said that her party will attend the memorial service for the late MDC founding president, Morgan Tsvangirai.

The ex-trade unionist and Zimbabwean Prime Minister between 2009 and 2013 died of colon cancer on Valentine’s Day in 2018. His memorial service has been slated for 14 February 2019.

Khupe had sought for security guarantees for her to attend the memorial after she was brutally assaulted by suspected MDC Alliance activists during Tsvangirai’s funeral. Khupe’s party spokesperson Linda Masarira had this to say,

Yes, we received the invitation and we debated about it. There were people with reservations about attending considering the violence that took place during the funeral.

Considering how violent people from MDC can be, we are waiting to hear about the security issue which is critically important.
