Douglas Mwonzora Sought Meeting With Mugabe: Mawarire Responds To Kiss Of Death Comment

National Patriotic Front (NPF) spokesperson Jealousy Mawarire has revealed that  Secretary General of the Nelson Chamisa led MDC-T, Douglas Mwonzora sought an interview with former President Robert Mugabe.

Mawarire’s revelation comes after Mwonzora told The Herald that he thinks Mugabe is a kiss of death and there is no wisdom in working with him. In a thread on Twitter, Mawarire said Chamisa has never met Mugabe nor sought a meeting with him. He said Mwonzora met self exiled former Social Welfare Minister Patrick Zhuwao in Kenya seeking a meeting between Mugabe and the late Morgan Tsvangirai. Said Mawarire:

Since @DMwonzora hasn’t honoured his promise made when we met earlier today, am doing this thread to put issues straight about the alleged effect Pres Mugabe had in the MDC Alliance electoral performance. For starters, @nelsonchamisa never met with Pres Mugabe nor sought the meeting.

Instead @DMwonzora travelled to Kenya to meet @PatrickZhuwao seeking a meeting between Pres Mugabe & the late MDC-T Pres Tsvangirai. @DMwonzora stayed at Four Points by Sheraton Nairobi Hurlingham near Yaya Centre.

After requesting for a meeting with Pres Mugabe, @DMwonzora was given 3 conditions which @PatrickZhuwao said shld be met before such a meeting could be arranged.

@DMwonzora was told that MDC-T should (1) recognise that there was a coup on Nov 15 2017 (2) reign in characters like Eddie Cross (3) stop attacking Pres Mugabe, before a meeting between the two leaders could be arranged.

It doesn’t help anyone for @DMwonzora to try to abet the junta propaganda that Pres Mugabe is responsible for MDC Alliance ‘electoral loss’, ironically, before the electoral court hears petitions challenging the result. This isn’t the right time 4 @DMwonzora to pick up unnecessary fights
