President Mnangagwa is expected to leave Harare today for Lusaka, Zambia where he will attend the 20th Summit of the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (Comesa).
Presidents from the regional bloc’s 19 member states are expected to attend the summit, which ends tomorrow and is being held under the theme “Comesa: Towards Digital Economic Integration.” The programme of the summit at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre in the Zambian capital started on Monday last week with meetings of the grouping’s policy organs. The Council of Ministers met on Saturday and Sunday.
Comesa is expected to appoint a new secretary general to replace Mr Sindiso Ngwenya, a Zimbabwean who has held that position since May 2008.
