Zanu-PF Confirms Oppah Muchinguri Won In Nyanga Primary Elections

Oppah Muchinguri was announced as the winner in a tightly-contested women’s quota election for Nyanga putting to rest reports she had lost to Joyce Bukuta. Muchinguri who is also Zanu-PF national chairperson was confirmed as the winner for the Nyanga seat in results released by Zanu-PF national political commissar Retired Lieutenant-General Engelbert Rugeje on Thursday last week.

Some reports claimed Muchinguri had lost to Bukuta, but others said results had been understated, with only one constituency instead of three having been recorded. Zanu-PF primary elections were marred by allegations of vote rigging, intimidation, violence and vote buying. You can download the list of successful senatorial seats, women’s quota for the National Assembly by clicking here
