After Vice President Constantino Chiwenga fired all the nurses who were on strike, the Health Services Board (HSB) has recalled all nurses on leave or nights off to report for work. Government has also started recruiting nurses to replace the nurses who were fired by Chiwenga. A recruitment circular which has been sent to all Chief Executive Officers of government hospitals and Provincial Medical Directors.
The circular by HSB recalling nurses on leave reads:
1. CALL FOR APPLICATIONS FOR NURSING POSTS
The Health Service Board and the Ministry of Health and Child Care urgently invites applications from qualified unemployed Registered General Nurses, Primary Care Nurses and similarly retired Nurses below the age of seventy (70) to fill Arsing posts in the Health Service. Interested applicants should submit their applications to; The nearest Central Hospital, Provincial Hospital and the Provincial Medical Directorate Offices with immediate effect. All applicants should have valid practicing certificates.
2. RECALLING STAFF ON LEAVE OR NIGHTS OFF
In the interim all members who are on Vacation Leave, Annual Leave and Nights Off are instructed to report for duty with immediate effect.
