Zambian President Edgar Lungu is reported to have sent former Zambian president Kenneth Kaunda as a special envoy to Harare to convince President Robert Mugabe to step down. The Zambians presidents want Mugabe to have a “dignified exit.” Mugabe has been under severe pressure to step down ever since the Zimbabwe Defence Forces seized power in a military takeover last week.
A senior government source told Reuters news agency:

Botswana President Ian Khama has also called on Mugabe to step down after advising him that
Mugabe faces the threat of an impeachment tomorrow, after his own party, Zanu-PF, recalled him as party leader and first secretary of the party after a special Central Committee meeting yesterday.
