Sekeramayi asks to be left out of succession politics

Minister of Defence Sydney Sekeramayi has reportedly asked to be left out of the politics and drama of succeeding President Robert Mugabe. This comes barely two days after Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education, Science and Technology Development Professor Jonathan Moy claimed that Sekeramayi was more senior to Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa as well as better option to succeed the President.

According to the Sunday Mail, Sekeramayi said

Please, they must leave me in peace. Why drag me into those things?

Although the weekly paper claims that sources informed it that the Minister of Defence was furious at Jonathan Moyo for involving him in the succession drama, the paper is unable to quote Sekeramayi on this matter, despite having had an “exclusive interview” with Sekeramayi.
