Deputy Minister of Information, Publicity & Broadcasting Services, Energy Mutodi has said that the South African Ambassador told him no official meeting took place between Chamisa on Cyril Ramaphosa, the South African government. The statement is meant to refute a statement by Chamisa 5 days ago that he met Ramaphosa in Pretoria.
Said Mutodi:
I’ve spoken to the SA Ambassador to Zimbabwe Cde Mphakama MBETE & he has said he is not aware of any official meeting between President Cyril Ramaposa & opposition MDC leader Nelson Chamisa. The SA gvt is fully behind President Mnangagwa & will not waste time entertaining MDC.

On 23 December, Chamisa said:
A few days ago I had a fruitful meeting in Pretoria with my distinguished brother & fountain of wisdom, the President of the Republic of South Africa, His Excellency @CyrilRamaphosa on a wide range of urgent & important issues regarding the wellbeing of the people of Zimbabwe. pic.twitter.com/iWsjW6BKZz

Mutodi was generally criticised in the social media responses to his tweet, who pointed out that an official meeting may not have taken place but an unofficial one may have taken place which the SA Ambassador in Zimbabwe is not aware of.
