A fire reportedly broke out and destroyed property at Mbuyazwe High School in Umguza district. The fire is said to have broken out on Wednesday morning. According to a Zimlive report, the Fire Brigade from Bulawayo was called but it could not save anything. Some teachers and pupils lost ‘everything’ in the inferno.
There has been an upsurge in fire incidences in the country in recent days. This week alone, fires destroyed property worth thousands of dollars at Glen View home industries, Siyaso in Mbare and clothing chain shops in Kadoma. The Mbuyazwe school headmaster, Gordin Sithole said
This has hit hard on the children as most of them are coming from poor families because ours is a low-cost boarding school. They lost everything in the fire except for the uniforms they were putting on.
