In its Communique of the 38th Ordinary Summit of the Heads of State & Government held in Windhoek, SADC did not congratulate Emmerson Mnangagwa for the elections Victory, despite doing it for Angolan President who was also elected recently.

SADC congratulated member states that held elections since the last summit in August 2017, Angola and Zimbabwe; and then congratulated President Joao Lourenco and MPLA for winning the elections. It, however, did not congratulate Mnangagwa and Zanu-PF.

  1. The reason for not congradulating him is very simple. The election is not yet throuh because of the court challenge and the decision is just logical. But it is also interesting to note that they have given him a post in the grouping which is a possible indication that they have high hopes for his victory.

  2. Even here at home his inauguration has been postponed thus why he is being addressed as the President – Elect. SADC leaders have just followed the constitution of Zimbabwe, there is no a bid issue as reported by the journalist.
