MDC-T vice president Thokozani Khupe has spoken on reports that former President Robert Mugabe sought to meet her and create another coalition of opposition parties to challenge Zanu-PF presidential candidate Emmerson Mnangagwa in the forthcoming polls.
Some media outlets have also linked Khupe to the Ambrose Mutinhiri-led National Patriotic Front (NPF). Mugabe allegedly wanted to offer Khupe the vice-presidency of his new party. However, speaking through her aide Witness Dube, Khupe denied meeting Zimbabwe’s former president. Said Dube:
That is rubbish. I know fiction writing when I read it, that is what you are talking about. If you read throughout the story, you will be ashamed to be called a journalist with such fiction writers. It is hogwash. If you believe anything there, you can as well believe that the devil is in heaven. It’s rubbish.
